On Thursday 8th June, the School Council led a bric a brac sale which raised an amazing £76! This will be spent on toiletries and healthy snacks for the Jigsaw Food Bank in Matlock.

On Tuesday 20^th December the oldest members of the School councils from Winster and Monyash CE Primary Schools dropped off 32 bags of hope with complete Christmas dinners in them to the Jigsaw Food Bank ran by Church in the Peak. This food bank on Lime Tree Industrial Estate, Matlock was busy even as we visited and provides a vital support for families in Matlock and the surrounding areas. Over the last 7 weeks, we have been asking families to donate 1 item a week, such as custard, gravy, stuffing etc and this resulted in a complete Christmas dinner in a bag. We met a representative from the food bank who showed us how it is all organised and explained how many people benefit from this support. It was not a surprise to hear how much more in demand the food banks are this year, due to financial pressures, which was why our bags of hope were so greatly appreciated. We also asked how we might be able to help in the future, as this is very much needed, not just at Christmas. Our school councils are incredibly active working in the community and raising money for causes this term such as Children in Need, World Wildlife Fund and of course the Food Bank.
