SEND (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities)

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS & DISABLITIES (SEND)

Information Report

At times children need extra support to meet their needs. We place great importance on identifying special educational needs early so we can help children as quickly as possible.

Mrs Slack is our Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO). The SENCO has day-to-day responsibility for the operation of SEND policy and co-ordinating specific provision made to support children with SEND. She provides guidance to colleagues to secure high quality teaching for pupils with SEND. She also plays an important part in working with the governing body to plan strategically in order to raise achievement in SEND.

We have a very experienced team of teachers and support staff within the school. We work collegiately with parents and children to ensure we meet the needs of all children. If necessary, outside agencies will work with the school to support individual children. Teaching staff will discuss with parents any additional needs they feel a child needs to make the best possible progress. Children who are identified as needing extra support will have an Individual Education programme (IEP) which will detail the main objectives and success criteria for individual children. The IEP is reviewed termly in partnership with parents and their child.

We work closely with our local secondary schools to ensure a smooth transition for SEND pupils.

To find out more about SEND you can read our SEND policy and our SEND School Information Report to Governors on our 'Policies' page.
