Church
The Church and Winster School have always been friends. Winster School is a Church of England Controlled Primary School which was established by the Church in the nineteenth century. Our school belongs to a family of Church Schools in the area under the authority of the Church of England Diocese of Derby.
The Diocese appoints two Foundation Governors onto the school governing body. The current Foundation Governors are Roland Corfield and Rose Welch.
Collective worship in school is in accordance with the Trust Deed so daily assemblies are held in school by staff or visiting speakers. The school is also involved in celebrations at St John the Baptist church in the village. On occasions the school joins with other church schools in the immediate area for celebrations which can be held at different churches, such as All Saints church at Elton. Some of the celebrations are Harvest Festival, Remembrance Sunday and of course Christmas.
