Welcome to Oak Tree Class!
Hello and welcome to the Oak Tree class page where you will find information about the fun, exciting learning that has been happening each term.
This term our topic is "Famous People and Messy Mixtures"
In Maths we will be continuing to learn about counting, number and we will play a range of Maths games to reinforce the one to one correspondence of counting forwards and back. Our Reception children will focus on counting and exploring numbers. The year 1 and 2 children will continue work on exploring number and place value and begin to add and subtract.
In English the children will enjoy finding out about potions and mixtures in stories as well as finding out information in Non-fiction books about Famous People such as Guy Fawkes, Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Our Reception children will explore potions and mixtures in the tuff spots to encourage lots of rich vocabulary. The Y1 and 2 children will write their own Non-fiction reports about Famous people.
In Science we will be finding out about our Senses and how we explore the world around us before working on Materials and how they can change. We will carry out simple investigations to see what happens to different materials when mixed with a range of "potions"
In RE, the children will be focusing on "Special places and symbols of the church" They will find out that the cross is one symbol that all Christians share.
In art and DT the children can explore different mixtures and potions during our "Messy Day" through printing with our hands and feet and marbelling inks. We will have our "Christmas Craft Day" which will keep us busy as well as creating a lamp for Florence Nightingale.
ICT will include learning about E-safety and what it means to be safe online. .
PSHE will be ongoing with " Growing Up" and mindfulness on a daily basis.
