Spring Term 1, 2026
🌏 Our Topic This Half Term: Incredible India
This half term, our class is learning all about India, exploring its culture, traditions and daily life through a range of exciting activities across the curriculum.
We will be:
📚 Reading stories and traditional tales linked to India
🌍 Comparing India and the UK using maps and geography
🔬 Learning about living things and habitats in science
🎨 Creating printed artwork inspired by Indian patterns and textiles
🎶 Listening to and enjoying Indian music
💬 Talking about difference, diversity and respect in PSHE
✨ Special experience: While Mrs Slack is visiting India, the children will take part in video calls with her. This will give them a real-life opportunity to see India first-hand, ask questions, and learn about different cultures and ways of life in a meaningful and exciting way.
This term our topic is "FANTASTIC FESTIVALS" where our focus will be on Geography and looking at different types of festivals and how they are celebrated across the world.

In Maths we will be continuing to learn about number and addition and subtraction. Our Reception children will focus on counting and exploring numbers as well as shape and pattern. The year 1 will work on numbers to 50 as well as comparing numbers and counting.
In English the children will enjoy listening to different stories and poetry about Festivals and Celebrations. Our Reception children will be encouraged to have a go at their writing using the phonics from their Supersonic Phonic Friends.
