Letter re school closure
Thu 19 Mar 2020Dear Parents,
As you know, we have spent much of this week dealing with the impact of the COVID-19 virus and preparing for the potential of school closure. Following the Prime Minister’s address yesterday evening, our suspicions have been confirmed and from 3.30pm tomorrow, our school will be closed ‘until further notice’.
Hopefully you have received information about how to access learning activities, communicate with staff and the various login information needed to use some of our learning platforms. If you have any questions, please contact your child’s teacher. They are happy to support you with these systems.
There are many issues to consider, one of which is whether we will need to offer in school provision for children of ‘key workers’. If you think that this applies to you, please get in touch: let us know the occupations of adults in your household and we will check your eligibility.
It has been confirmed that children will not take statutory tests this year. This includes the Year 1 phonics check, Year 2 SATs, Year 4 times table check and Year 6 SATs.
As parents this is a very difficult and uncertain time for us all. The whole staff team send our warmest wishes to you. We will continue to keep in touch over the coming days and weeks
Yours Sincerely,
Sharon Slack

Update COVID19 Letter to parents
Tue 17 Mar 2020Dear Parents/Guardians,
Update re: CoronavirusWith the rapidly changing advice regarding Coronavirus, I write to prepare you for any changes the school may have to consider in the coming days and weeks.
The Government advice given yesterday was largely expected and included a greater emphasis on self-isolation and social distancing. As we wrote in previous letters, essentially, we have been directed to send home any child or adult with a fever or persistent cough. If this should happen, the advice is that self-isolation should follow alongside all family members living with the child/adult for a period of fourteen days. This will obviously affect children, parents and staff and therefore will impact on the day-to-day running of the school.
Measures that are being put into place from today include asking all adults to stay out of the school building as much as possible and not congregate at the entrance when dropping off or collecting. I am requesting that parents/carers encourage their children to come into school on their own or do be dropped off at the front door where one of the teachers / staff will be on hand to reassure them.
Pick up will remain unchanged.
All praise assemblies, swimming and sporting events will be cancelled until further notice.
Diary dates for the upcoming term will be postponed.
Please use the school office email or phone number to communicate with us, rather than coming into school unless you absolutely need to. Should you not get a quick response, please understand that it will be because we are busy supporting children and/or staff. I know this sounds very anti-social but these are hopefully short-term measures that will enable us to stay fit for work and school, for as long as possible.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support during these times, it is hugely appreciated. Whatever challenges we may face in the upcoming days and weeks, I feel confident that we will meet these together.
Below is the link which updates regularly by the government and is the guidance we follow.
Yours Sincerely,
Sharon Slack
