Writing Diary entries
This week, we are going to be completing the same task as year 3 and 4 - however, instead of 3 diary entries, I only want you to complete 1. BUT this has to be full of quality writing. You will need to be including ambitious vocabulary, sentence structures, fronted adverbials, the change of passive to active voice and more to make your diary entry the best it can be. We are working on quality over quantity!
Familiarise yourself with what the task is by clicking on the link below:
Look at the diary entries in the resources section on the Year 3/4 work and in 5/6 work - think about the structure and language that the author has used.
List the features so that you have your own success criteria to work to when you are completing your draft.
Research your area - landmarks, where you are exploring, is it very populated or is it abandoned? Use your senses to describe your place. How are you feeling? what are your emotions?
What were you hoping to see / find? Then...
Plan your diary entry - you can use the planning sheet in the year 3/4 resources if you would like to.
Draft your entry, remember quality over quantity - use your SPAG knowledge to construct different sentence types - have you included speech in your diary entry - or a quote from something you heard or saw?
Edit and uplevel your draft before redrafting neatly and sending it to the KS2 staff email!
Check your work carefully.
